2013 season ends on a high.

(September 08, 2013)

Yesterday saw Stanton Harcourt end the season on a high with a 7 wicket victory over Kennington. Our final position in Division 5 is 5th. After a bad start to the season a win was rare but eventually started to pick up a few wins including beating unbeaten Kilkenny with two centuries by Chris Pascoe (116) and Harry Sutton (110*) which helped us to finish mid table. The only other centuries scored this season was a friendly against Chipping Norton where Joel Graham (102*) and Oliver Pascoe (100*) smashed centuries. Luke Pettifer ended up highest wicket taker in league cricket with Oliver Pascoe scoring most runs in the league season of 2013. Also a few other positives from season is the Waite brothers Charlie and Matt both taking plenty of wickets and Charlie's big improvement with bat. Ryan Wastie has improved his allround cricket and new young lad Callum Chapmans explosive batting Has been very entertaining to watch. A lot of youth coming through and starting to contribute in league cricket now is making big difference. Only one 5 wicket haul of the season was taken yesterday by John Woodward taking 5-36 v Kennington.

Its also great to have a old player John Emery back involved with the club. This year he organised a bus trip to Oldbury Upon Severn in June. The trip was great with 30+ people going and a surprise visit from ex player Edward Quainton who now lives in Devon. Some went to play and some to drink or in Matthew Eagle's case both. We Played for the ICC can which we won comfortably. Highlight of the trip has got to be Matt Eagles first ever 6 of the last ball of the innings when his father was watching Matt play for the first time.

Thankyou once again to the tea ladies Louise Pettifer and Trudi Boyce.

On a sad note we sadly had to say goodbye to two members who sadly passed away this year. Edward Stockhill and John Faulkner were two members that were both heavily involved with Stanton Harcourt.

Next season Stanton Harcourt will be entering 2 teams into the league so if anybody wants to sign on to play next season please don't hesitate to contact us.
